JESSICA E. MOUGIS (JEM) has been working with children and families since graduating from Connecticut College, Phi Beta Kappa in 2007. She began by teaching creative movement, ballet and modern dance to children. In 2009 she took a brief hiatus from teaching and followed her dream of attending film school in Sedona, AZ. She had the honor of winning the Pinnacle Award for Best Director.
Upon moving to NYC, Jessica realized how much she missed working with children and began teaching children's yoga. As Director of Programs of Yogi Beans, she taught yoga and mindfulness to hundreds of children in homes, schools and studios around NYC. She is 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga certified through Laughing Lotus Yoga Center. Jessica's most memorable teaching experiences have been leading children's yoga classes at Noogieland (the children's program at Gilda's Club) and training hundreds of adults to teach kids yoga both nationally and internationally.
Jessica's proudest accomplishment is being a mom to her two year old daughter Emily Rae. She lives in the UWS of Manhattan with her husband, daughter, and their Rhodesian Ridgeback, Romeo.

The name JEM YOGA comes from my initials Jessica Elizabeth Mougis. It also happens to be a combination of Jessica and EMily, my daughter. After Em was born I took a break from teaching to focus on motherhood. As she grew I felt a stirring to get back at it. We practice yoga together all the time and she is my most special teacher. She is also the inspiration for this family-run company.
Thank you for being here!
