International Day of Yoga

In 2014 the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21st at the International Day of Yoga. According to International Day of Yoga official website, “175 nations, including USA, Canada and China co-sponsored the resolution.” In a time when our world feels so divided, it is hopeful to see yoga recognized today on an international level.

Hon'ble Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi addressed the UN General Assembly saying, "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition . It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. "

Right now in our culture, yoga has become trendy and is popping up everywhere. It is so important to remain mindful of full scope of yoga. Yoga is so much more than physical exercise. It is a way of life. And I truly believe if children begin the practice at a young age our world can become a better place.
